** EDIT ** Sorry, I didn't read your whole post. I thought you were buying. If it were me selling, I wouldn't put any money into restoring it. To me repainting it would detract from it's value. It's a great bike but you need to find someone who knows how special this bike is. Too small for me but it's a nice example of an early 80's Merckx.

Sadly the link didn't work.

Oh, I found it. Great bike worth every penny.

Eddy Merckx Road Bike - $900 (solana beach)

Vintage Eddy Merckx racing bike, 53 cm frame, a true classic with full original Campagnolo Super Record components except for pedals which are Dura-Ace. Cinelli bars and stem. Sew-up rims on the bike are built on Dura-Ace hubs but I also have the original Campy super record rear hub and two extra front rims with Campy Super Record hubs and a box of miscellaneous vintage parts that go with the bike. (Parts include Campy shifters, Campy seat post and a Gran Sport derailleur set that came off a very old Legnano) I bought this bike used in the mid-80's but the bike has mostly been in storage for the last 25 years. This is a very fast and great riding bike that can be ridden as it is, but it really needs to be disassembled, cleaned, and lubed. A proper restoration would include a careful touch-up / repaint to deal with some minor surface rust on the frame while preserving the original stickers.
