She makes some good points but I think she'll lose a lot of people when she's giving advice at the end. It's just when you attempt something just one time, fail at it spectacularly, and are too afraid to attempt it again, you're not really in a position to give advice to all of the people who do it routinely.
I noticed his closing statement as well, in his sticking to riding the stationary bike in her basement, or riding his bike only on a quiet country road. As you said, the article was good reading up until the end, which left me thinking, WTF?
