Ah, these were the days. 1955 was a great time for cycling as cars were sparse on the roads and it was a golden age for cycling as was the time between the wars. A time of corduroy shorts, open-neck shirts and roll-neck woollen sweaters. Most importantly it was a time when British Rail catered for cyclists with specially constructed bike carriages as a result of the Cycling Touring Club collaborating with BR to make the use of rail transport for cyclists easier. A far cry from today I'm afraid.
