Correct...in my case, I have a "summer fit" and a "winter fit". I keep a small amount of steerer tube above the top of my stem so that I can raise the bars about a quarter of an inch to accomodate heavier clothing and I can still ride in the drops comfortably.

What a fit does is eliminate the issues that create pain and discomfort and allow the rider to ride more quickly in a correct riding position. But, and this has happened, if a rider gains five pounds for example that can change the fit. If they change shoes and pedals, that can change the fit. We have guys that come in after the winter to get adjusted then go back to their "normal" specs once they get in better shape in the spring.
