Trek Portland was one , they were gone , by mid season in the warehouses ..
but the pre season dealers had them in their stock ..
...and many dealers don't do pre-season orders, or their crystal ball was totally fuzzy the day they did them...
Trek makes a big deal about pre-ordering $2k+ bikes due to manufacturing/stocking issues; none of the CrossRips top $2k.
Hazard of lean manufacturing/competitive pricing is dubious availability. Foreign manufacture means +1 month response time to overly popular models.
