I've never felt the need to use tires larger than 1.50" on my 'bents. One of my bikes rolls on 1.25" tires. Unless you are very large, less than maximum pressure should work well and give a comfy ride. Are those the 1.5" version of Kenda Kwest? They also make that in 1.25".
Yes those are 1.5, I would think 1.25 would be too skinny for a 230lb 6'5er, I'm playing around with the pressures now to dial it in. This type of bike takes a lot of adjustment to get it "right" feeling, I don't mind, it's interesting, with seat position, seat angle, bottom bracket in and out and chain length etc. It's getting there!
