Congrats on becoming a good enough cyclists where you do see demonstrable improvement in your cycling. I'd assume fit on the bike is better, being the actual culprit. Possibly your head and body is lower too.
Overall this bike is a more appropriate geometry for me, but the fit is definitely not perfect right now. I go for the post-purchase with the fitter a week from Sat (we are on vacation for a week, can't go sooner). The fit on the Trek is actually more optimized for me even if the overall bike is less appropriate.
So I think things will be even better in a few weeks.
