I think it really depends on the frame...

My '97 Torelli is an (exquisitely made) Aelle straight-gauge frame, yet compared my 853 Lemond, it's noticeably mushy in the stays on a climb or a sprint; very stable descender, though.

It's a fun ride and kind of a perfect 'cafe' bike in that I don't worry about it getting scuffed & dinged through everyday use.



The thing that really baffles (and impresses) me about this bike is that, while Aelle is considered a low-end tubeset, Torelli seems to have spared no effort on the build; the Corsa Strada is every bit as finely crafted & detailed as the Countach.
