Caloso. So did you walk your bike that last 50 feet. That goes against the California motorist manual- Bikes and cars have equal access to roads unless otherwise posted. Maybe private property is different..?
I can be contankerous and fight for principal..
I was a bit cantankerous myself but not out of principle, just pissiness. I hopped off, hoisted it on my shoulder, and said something sarcastic like "Thank you so much for your concern."

After I locked it up I went over and talked to the guard and he said that what he was concerned about was that I had cut across a down ramp. This garage is one of those multi-level deals with up and down ramps on both sides. I had entered the garage at the entrance and cut across the ramp that dumps cars back on to the up part for another go-around. This is because the rack is next to the toll-booths at the exit.

I have to admit that it can be a pretty risky move but I told the guy that what I'll do from now on is just ride up the ramp just like a car, go all the way up and around the garage, and back down to the entrance. Just like a car. He didn't have much answer for that.

As for the public road thing, that's a good question. It's a city-owned garage, so I don't know. I'll have to do a little legal research.
