Most don't use wind trainers anymore. They are good but very loud. The fluid trainers like the KK Road Machine do not produce any usable air movement except for that generated by the spokes on the rear wheel.

Unless your room temp comes down to 60 degrees F, a fan of some type is almost mandatory.
