The maximum speed on stock equipped Giant Escape and on flat is around 24 mph. It's hard to believe you are able to keep 20 mph average on a "typical" ride. Not trying to be disrespectful, but your high numbers are very, very, very fishy.
Where are you getting you information? Down hill speeds are in the low 30's, straight sprints I've hit over 24 without a doubt, and 15-20 isn't unreasonable as it's a flat bar road bike, and not just a typical hybrid. Factor that in and maybe it isn't as unreasonable as you'd think. And I'm located in south Florida so it's very flat, and the 'hills' are just bridges with steep inclines.
There's definitely a chance I'm wrong. It was not in kmph, that's for sure. The data that I provided wasn't meant to be used as factual evidence, it was just an estimate based on multiple factors.
