Stopped by a pitbull this morning. If I had some speed under me would have zoomed past him. But he was in front of me as I rounded a corner in the dark. Tried to talk to him, make friends but he wouldn't have any. Each time I tried to either walk past, around or back off he charged me, then backed off to about 10 ft when I stopped.

Eventually called the cops. When the officer arrived with a car and there were two of us the dynamics changed a little. After a few more minutes, with the dog still barking and growling, the officer asked if I could go back around the block. The dog didn't try anything as I backed off. The officer assured me she would be OK.

Have no idea how it turned out. Maybe she's better with dogs than me. I can usually make friends with dogs but sometimes, and especially when I'm on a bike, it's difficult.
