I would guess two things happened- Felt underestimated demand or their yields (pick your factor) aren't what they ought to, leading to diminished supply. And then your LBS compounded that by probably quoting you what they've seen as average waits for Felts, and they got caught out by not actually checking availability or by taking their sweet time to put in the order. Either way, they put in the order after they've already set your expectations, and they can't deliver. Based on what Dave from Felt has said on the other forum, I'd guess we're somewhere between the 1st and 2nd waves of the current F bikes, so I would think that your bike will one first from he 2nd wave.
You've also gotta realistic regardless of what the LBS tells you: you ordered a bike almost at the same time it was made available for sale, with a gruppo that seems to have just started shipping en masse a month or two ago. Eight months from now, you could walk in and by the bike at a discount...but you want it ASAP, so you'll get it when possible, ya know? Always sucks to wait for new toys, no matter the expectation or reason
