This is what I do except my distance is a little longer and I have locker to store my gear in. My ride to work is at a lower effort to help with cooling down when I get to work. My work is located at a top of a hill, but there is a bike trail (MUP) that starts just across the street from my work that goes about a 1/4 mile. I ride on that path at a slow comfortable path to cool down. The cool down period from when I arrive to when I change into my work clothes is probably the worst part of the commute. In the winter it is great as I'm ready to get warm but in the summer it can take 30 minutes to cool off. There is a shower I can use, but it would probably be the same amount of time. I'll have to try it out later in the summer when the temperatures rise.
