If there just happens to be a can of wasp spray handy when you are attacked and you employ it for self defense you'll most likely have no problem. HOWEVER, if a DA can make the case that you were carrying it specifically for self defense then you'll violate federal law, it SAYS SO RIGHT ON THE CAN! On top of that, wasp spray has been shown to be overrated as a self defense tool and regular pepper spray is suppior, as is a squirt bottle of ammonia that you took along in case of dog attack. YMMV
