The "Righteousness is no guarantee of safety" one is actually pretty good and applies to life in general. Pedestrians have the right of way, but it doesn't mean they should step blindly into traffic while staring at their phone.

Everything Top Gear does is intentionally hyperbolic. Like the segment earlier in the episode involving the application of chamois cream. Or from their reaction, perhaps it was mace.

They did give out a proper A&S comment early on:
"Look at him, he's wearing normal clothing, the lunatic."
"YOU'LL BE KILLED!!!"
