The IceTrekkers look just like the Kahtoolas, but milder spikes. They were a little spendy, but they look like they'll last a lot longer than Yaktrax, and I do enough stuff on the ice in winter where it wont be a waste. We'll see how they work out this weekend. The website of the thing we're going to specifically recommends bringing an ice hiking stick or cleats of some kind. Basically we'll be hiking 1.1 miles across Lake Superior.

Oh, and if the rubber degrades too much, I have the materials to make old school leather straps for them instead.
