You will have to pull the crank arms off. Changing rings isn't hard if the rings are bolted on but I'm not sure (and can't tell) if that is the case with your bike. Often times, it's cheaper to buy the whole crankset as well. Assuming that the crank is a square taper, you can get an Altus in the same ring combination for as little as $24. Just Google "48/28/28 crankset black" and you'll get lots of hits.
