Im looking for advice about this guys. Ive got into trails the last couple months and now im looking to purchase a mountain bike for myself instead of renting. Ive been renting hardtrail bikes everytime I go and its got to the point Im enjoying it and should invest in one.
I came across the Montague Paratrooper bike on a search and read through every topic on the bike in the foldable bike forum and looking through the many review sites and im hard pressed to find many negatives except for the price. Okay so price is a big negative but i can get it for $500 and there would always be the option to upgrade the standard parts. I asked the guys at the place I rent my bike and they said they had never tried it but it seemed good in theory.
How does this compare to non foldable regular mountain bikes? there isnt a wealth of solid opinions on the comparisons. Ive read a few saying its a big no and it doesnt compare to a regular mountain bike, but theyve seemed biased and given no real info for that opionion.
My thought process is I cant be doing with the hassle of bike racks on my car, booking advanced tickets on trains and running the risk of it getting stolen at bike racks. I also like the idea id storing it away in my flat which make the extra 200 bucks worth it compared to a regular mountain bike.
So how does it compare?
Also is there any differences between montague frames? Im tempted to just get frame and build to spec
