I remember seeing an earlier article dealing with an analysis of cyclist fatalities in London. The conclusion was that women were overrepresented, especially in deaths by trucks turning left at intersections (our right hooks). That article speculated that it was because women were more law-abiding about red lights than men and therefore were more likely to be in danger of being hit by a turning truck when the light changed to green. More of the men would have run the red as soon as traffic cleared and thus escaped the turning truck.
