I'm doing a century for the Tour de Cure next weekend so figured I'd better try to get a long ride in to see how I could do. Set out hoping for a metric this morning. I made it 57 miles. Granted I never stopped once and only had one protein bar and nothing to eat before hand...and there were 20 mile per hour wind gusts, but I still think I'm in trouble.
On the upside, with the wind at my back, I was pushing 40mph on a flat and could have done more but ran out of gears. We won't discuss what I was doing into the wind.
