Theoretically, a nuVinci shifter

I was watching this video...

Introduction to NuVinciŽ CVP Technology - YouTube

Okay, to start off, I'm thinking of building a bike around a nuVinci hub, but one important thing is getting it to work with drop bars, or at least bullhorn bars.

The shifter only fits 22mm flat mtnbike bars, which I dislike.

But, due to the nature of the hub, theoretically it should be possible to simply shift it with a simple bar-end adapter, no? There are no discrete hops, so no danger of missing a shift or a shift hopping around.

Now, it does look like the shifter requires two cables, and when one is pulled one way, the other is pulled the other way, and vice versa.

Still, it might be possible to jury-rig a homemade shifting system with the hub. Thoughts?
