Pinch flats are mostly a non-issue on road bikes, but punctures are common. For these reasons, I'd say that puncture flat protection is the best reason to go road tubeless.

With the mileage that I ride, the higher tire prices, and limited selection(& availability), tubeless tires just don't make sense for me at this time.
