I still use old fashioned gum mastics that allow mounting into wet glue which make it easier to reposition ans square up a tire so it has uniform tension and no wobbles. With the modern glues that are more like contact cement, you need to develop a feel and get it right the first time.
When I ran singles in the 90s, all I knew of was the red contact cement stuff... the whole process was an epic PITA. Punctures were a nightmare; another $25 for another second-hand tyre.
Can't believe those crazy wheels were the only set I had for my only bike.
