My wife also wanted an upright position frame (the other criteria you list weren't on her list but nevertheless, ...) and tried a couple and found them to be uncomfortable. So the store gave her a 29er to try but, despite the fact that she would normally have been given a medium size, she was given a large size frame and she loves the bike and it is very comfortable. Being a larger size, the seat is lower than a "properly" fitted person would have it which results in a more upright posture.
