Keep in mind, these rides cost a fortune to run. People need to be fed and housed on a huge scale and that costs a LOT.

IMHO, Facebook isn't a great medium to fundraise because it's so narcissistic. Your ride gets lost in the see of "here are my kids!" and "here's how great my life is!"

Don't be afraid to tell people in person that you're doing this. If/when they say they'd like to donate, you send them an e-mail from your phone immediately and you reassure them that even $10 is appreciated. $300 is very doable. It'll take some work, though. If you can do it $20 at a time, you're good.

My average donation is $100, but again--I'm very close to the cause.
