This morning on my way to work I saw a beautiful Snowy owl taking flight and going away at about 100-125 meters from the road. It's the first time I ever saw one outside the zoo.
I saw a show on TV recently about snowy owls, and they have been migrating South this winter for some reason. Apparently they were overpopulated in the Arctic or just sick of the cold! We've had several sightings in NC, and that is a very rare occurrence this far South.
