I ran into issues mounting that same type of rack (mine is a nashar that I got for $8)... you don't want to run it without the V portion because it isn't designed for that, you run the risk of it bending and swinging into the spokes, not good.... personally because of the way the dropouts sit I couldn't figure out how to get it to work with my fenders and everything else, it also would have limited my tire size... after some reading blackburn says you can use the mtf1 (high rack) along with the low rider... so my solution was to mount the V section to the front dropout holes like using the second rack would do, this also gave me the clerance I needed for my 38c tires... I may at some point pick up a MTF1 making a cheap/ghetto high/low setup
