We have had people suffering from cancer in the family, and one of my uncles was diagnosed with skin cancer. This made me more aware of the risk and how much time I spend in the sun. I keep my tanlines throughout the year, and they are still there (vaguely) when spring starts.
This really made me realize that something has to change. With the amount that I sweat, I really doubt how much suncreen protection I am getting on longer rides in hot weather. My guess is close to nothing after the first hour.
This is why I am considering wearing skin protection (arm/leg coolers), but I am afraid it will look very odd (yes, I too am vain like that unfortunately). What is the overall perception on these things. Good idea? Use better sunblock or re-apply?
