I wonder if the AAA estimates are considering the new car cost factor as well as the fuel, tire wear, whatever. However, my 1987 Dodge Ram Van is paid off, I do all the work on it, and the insurance is amazingly cheap.

@ ILTB. Like Bcarfree I am actually looking forward to the ride, come rain, wind or hail. You are right about the options having a car can give, including a tie and nice shoes. But since some of the presenters are physicists, astronomers, and geologists, probably my spd sandals and a t-shirt will be fine. This is not work related, and if I am wearing bike friendly togs and it looks freakier than all the nose, lip, eyebrow, cheek, bridge of nose, and probably one or two nape of the neck piercings that I will be surrounded by then I do have trouble.

@ Isaiahc72 Yeah, we are pretty thin on the ground around here. But Springdale is a decent place to be car free, they seem to be building new paths over there all the time.
