Day 1 -- 53 mile ride to destination
Days 2-4 -- Conference
Day 5 -- 53 mile ride home

You've got a hotel booked (and the hotel allows bicycles in the room or has a place for them, I presume)
You can pack lightweight cycletouring clothing for the conference because you don't need to wear anything dressy etc.


Sounds good to me!! Sounds sort of similar to parts of tours we've done where we cycle to a destination and stay there for a few days, cycling around the area, checking out the beaches, visiting the little shops in the village, etc.

I'm not sure why you would need to do laundry your last night at the hotel, but that's up to you.

And as for getting home quickly in an emergency situation, is there a bus or train that could get you back in a hurry if you needed to? Is there another friend or relative who could step in and check on your elderly relatives for those days?
