i recommend shimano shifters as a replacement

in my experience
sram has built their empire on making the cheapest possible entry level products
using plastics that almost always break if the parts are regularly used

higher quality sram stuff is probably better
but i have never tried it
because i formed my negative opinion of them when they only made gripshifts
and they continue to make products that reinforce my prejudice
