Welcome to Clyde's. I was 400 lbs and rode my gt timberline and my townie. Never had a breakage . .maybe I was just lucky. I did not ride a lot as at 400 lbs I did not have the energy to ride far. I am just below 250 now and have added a specialized sirrus to the fleet. At you current weight any decent bike should hold up well. Best of luck. I counted calories to lose. Worked for me.
