SRAM Red (the new yaw kind) and I believe my force one was similar. There's a little metal piece you bend the wire around, sort of at the 10 oclock position if you're looking at the pinch bolt, and then you run the cable through the pinch bolt. When you're in the large chainring the cable departs the pinch bolt at a pretty reasonable angle, but when you're in the small chainring, it gets closer to horizontal.

There's a small groove in the washer under the pinch bolt to secure the cable. It's entirely possible I'm bending too much of the cable under the pinch bolt, if that makes sense.
