I think you may be comparing apples to slightly different apples; isn't that a later Cyclone "6000" series, rather than a Mk II? Anyway, here's mine, easily wrapping a 30T cog. I tried it with a 32T, but no-go on that one. There's a 40T chain ring up front, and I wouldn't dare try cross-chaining this on big ring, it's pretty tight as it is, going 40/30. From the pictures on the Disraeli Gears site, it seems the 6000 series may have a slightly longer short cage than the MK II.



Funny how the Disraeli Gears fellow equates this particular RD with "the death of SunTour." It's the nicest-shifting friction RD in my whole fleet, even if it weighs a whopping 50g more than the MK II. Absolutely smooth and precise, with plain old SunTour Power Shifters pulling the cable.
