I think it depends on whether you like the bike enough to pay that amount, if the type of bike you're looking for doesn't appear too often in your local, secondhand market; and if it's in a size you need. According to the reviews I read from people who bought the bike at retail price, it sounds like a great, reliable bike.
I got my barely used Giant Cypress almost four years ago for $150, but only because the couple who were selling all of their stuff in their garage that weekend, in preparation for hurricane season, weren't out to make a profit and were kind enough to give a slight discount, even though my parents were willing to pay the $160 that they'd asked for. Other people wanted to buy the bike at that price, immediately, too.
It still looks new and functions well.
Nowadays, in my local area, it's rare to come across a seller who is selling their barely used hybrid for around $150. Usually, at that price, most sellers are selling scratched bikes that need new chains, tires, etc.
Maybe the seller will accept a slightly lower price.
