I work in one of the office buildings on Hempstead Tpke at Merrick Road. These paths have been here for a while now. I;m not sure ofthe recreational value of these paths, but you see a steady flow of commuting cyclists who probably can't afford cars using these paths. Considering the traffic and shoulder situation on Hempstead Tpke, this is a good safety move.
