Paint peeling is never normal. Have you been riding in the rain allot? Even if there are pin points in the paint or perhaps when you close the hinge the paint got a little chipped, water will enter and wallah the paint will start to peel. I ask about the paint being chipped while closing because you mentioned it was tight to close, perhaps too tight and needed adjusting. None of this is normal and should be made known to the dealer and manufacturer.
