General consensus in some circles perhaps. You'd find a different opinion in the C&V forum.

I'm not trying to persuade either way. My bikes are probably 50/50 quill vs. threaded. I like them both and neither option is perfect IMHO, although the Deda stem JohnD showed above comes pretty close. It has looks, functionality and allows bars to be removed without unwrapping bar tape.

I was honestly interested in your opinion, not wanting to question it at all.
