Just hit Target or WallyWorld and pick up a Nalgene water bottle if you are looking for something secure with a screw off cap. They come in 16 to 48 oz versions from around $5-10. Their new bottles are all BPA free and very durable. If you want something with a very spill resistant lid, then +1 for Podium. You can also find stainless steel water bottles with screw off caps in the same price range as the Nalgene bottles.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with reusing plastic bottles from sports drinks, bottled water, etc.
