How often do you get a bike fit?

So much of cycling I learned at an early age. And I learned from people who were accomplished cyclists, I read a lot, and took advice from many others. It was all free! I fine tuned my position, cleat placement, angles of handlebars, levers, you name it. Listening and observing others who I wanted to emulate I learned to adjust a bike quickly to my riding style. I measure nothing. Yet I can get "my" position with just a few adjustments. I can look at a bike and tell what needs to be done to it to make it fit me and give me a comfortable position.

So above and beyond anything else my "fitting" was free. It bothers me tremendously that people charge for advice on how to ride a bike. Thats absurd. They've created a business out of something that should be free. I'm glad I learned to ride when I did. I don't care for the new cycling culture. I certainly don't "fit" in.
