i do it for stem, bars and seatpost. once you're sure about the position of your components, fill the hole up with superglue and drop a ball bearing in there.
if you want to adjust it, you can knock it out with an awl in about 30 seconds. your average bike thief out to jack some components is probably just carrying an allen set and when he finds he can't stick his wrench in there, will probably move on.
it's not the best, but it's something.
Is this a NJS approved theft prevention measure?
