I'm looking to do a 10 to 20km loop off paved roads, away from road traffic. I've seen people bike along the Credit and it seems smooth enough for a road bike, but not sure if it stays that way for 10 or 20km.
Thanks!
I would not get a road bike for paths/trails. They are not as nimble as mountain or hybrid bikes, mainly due to how the bike is designed and how you sit on it. I think a hardtail mountain bike is a good choice, and that gives you options to try gravel paths/rail trails, dirt roads, and singletrack trails. Look for a bike shop in your area that will take the time to talk to you about bikes in general. I started this way and then got hooked...good luck!
Also, I suggest heading over to the mtbr forums as there is more activity in the Eastern Canada forum...And lots of good beginner information in the beginner forum. I think you'll get more value spending your time there versus these forums.
