Thanks everyone for your input, I didn't expect to receive so many replies so quickly. Just to clarify, once I have the money I do intend to buy a new Selle San Marco seat for the bike. I looked on the SSM website and they still make the exact seat that came on the bike, it's just pricey. I also have rewrapped the bars in black cloth tape to restore the old school look to the bars. I will take some pictures today and post them here.

Also, I am a 19 year old college student, so forgive me if I don't fully understand the gravity of this bike. I knew it was a very nice bike and I'm incredibly lucky to have it in the condition that it's in. I will do my best to take good care of it, and will look into getting a different bike for commuting. I just enjoy commuting on it because it is such a nice ride, and commuting is really all the riding I have time for most days.
