The issue is whether OP or anyone else can find shoes that fit and are comfortable for under $500.
Do you believe that you can find cycling specific shoes that fit and are comfortable for you or for OP under $500?
The answer is yes or no.
The bottom line is that you're upset that I have pointed out a very simple fact: you can buy cycling shoes that fit and are comfortable for as little as $75 or even less than that. The fact that I have stated the obvious is what is upsetting to you. Realize this and you will be at peace.
btw, I am using a pair of inexpensive hiking boots that I received as a gift as 'cycling shoes.' The work very well. They probably cost about $40 at an outlet store. I'm happy with them since they fit my wide feet and are stiff enough for cycling.
I've also purchased cycling shoes for as little as $30 on clearance and they performed magnificently. People would ask me all the time about them, thinking they were incredibly expensive.
Common sense is a rare commodity for cycling enthusiasts. The mentaity is to buy, buy, buy. When anyone questions their shopping addiction, they go ballistic: "don't judge me!" "Stop posting in my thread!"
At some point the insanity has to stop. Or at least be questioned.

You might have flippers for feet, because Sidi shoes are too wide for me. Their narrow lasted shoes fit me well, but they rarely come cheap.
