You may have tossed perfectly good tires if the cracks were just in the rubber. it happens ,and happens alot and really does not impact useful life or performance unless the ruber was coming off the tire in chunks.Regrdless of what I buy they typically develope cracks long before they are worn out, unless the get trashed prematurely by road trash.....I suspect tires don't age as gracefully as fine wine,but also doubt it's worth worrying about, unless they are dry,cracked and nasty looking right out of the package.
