I'm not gonna play a guessing game. It's the casing that holds the pressue,not the rubber. Degraded rubber that could allow the entry of foreign stuff could result in more flats. I have ridden some very ugly cracked rubber and the casing lasted till they were wore out.You gotta decide where the comfort factor is.
