Hi All,
I know the Shimano 333 has a poor and well deserved reputation, but I would like to get the hub that I have repaired. My old 3 speed had a cartridge type shimano 333 that had a broken pawl. I found an entire wheel (chrome rim) at a local used bicycle store with an F-type 333 that I want to move the entire cartridge over to my hub(I have aluminum rims).
I can only seem to remove the inner ratchet on the F-type hub. No matter how I try I can get the outer ratchet to slide back and forth in the hub, but something inside is hitting on something and prevents it's removal. Does anyone have any tips? The outer ratchet on the cartridge type removed easily, and it's my understanding that the hub shells are the same between the two.
FYI, here's an exploded diagram and repair instructions if anyone cares to look...I didn't find any solutions to my problem in them tho:
