Aesthetically, this really was a turn-off for my wife and me. She liked the ride of the Synapse, but in the end, she chose the new Specialized Tarmac Expert. It's a bit less expensive than the Synapse, and its only weakness was its wheels which we upgraded to the Easton Ascents - even with the wheel upgrade, it still came out less than the Synapse.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder. im used to a larger downtube with my tri bike so that didnt bother me. i looked at the specialized tarmac expert but the curved sloping top tube reminded me to much of a beach comber bike and i dont like that look for a road bike. see what i mean?
