A pro builder may have specifications (tolerances) he promises his customers that have to be met. Fair enough. Unless the home wheel builder is insistent upon meeting a certain specification and knowing that has been accomplished, I still say there is no benefit. Once again, the gauges don't make the truing process easier, they only make the final tolerance assurance possible. And I have enjoyed my simple stand for over 30 years. I don't expect that to change. I can't tell you how true my wheels are, onky that they are as true as I can make them. I have never seen anyone with truer wheels than mine.
